Now that I've finally started packing up my sewing room for the upcoming renovation, I'm trying to be realistic about what I keep. I have a lot of fabric/notions/items that although I like, I'm never going to use. And I'd rather these items go to someone, like you, who will find some use for them rather than sitting and gathering dust here!
To start, I'm giving away this little bundle of Nancy Halvorsen fabric and the Christmas book Tidings also by her. There are 8 pieces of fabric here. The one on the bottom is 17" x 35" and most of the others are a little bigger than fat eighths. Most of the projects in the book don't require much fabric so you could make a lot of them from this little bundle.
If you're interested in the fabric and book, just leave a comment below letting me know one of your favorite holiday memories. I remember when we were kids, my sister bought a huge candy cane for our baby sitter, wrapped it and put it under the tree. When we got up the next morning, we found that our dog, Mindy, had discovered it during the night and eaten it. It was a huge mess! Funny how I still remember that 30 years later...
Since this isn't a very heavy package, I'll leave this open to anyone and everyone.
5/3 - Congratulations Deborah! You're the winner of the book and fabric. I've sent you an email for your information.

Oooh, what pretty fabric. I think my favorite Christmas memory was one year in my early teens when I realized I was more excited about the presents I was giving to my siblings than I was about what I was getting myself. We also started a fun tradition last year of letting the kids invite a bunch of friends over to decorate cookies.
ReplyDeleteDon't know if this will help in your de-stash efforts or not, but I've got another I-Spy swap going on my blog. I found it was a great way to use up some cute fabric from my stash that was never going to "work" in other projects. (Of course then I got addicted to the I-Spy squares and went and bought more fabric...so it's a little dangerous to get started.) If you're interested, there's more info about it here http://helpinglittlehands.blogspot.com/2013/04/i-spy-swap-3-now-open.html.
Oh my gosh~ I love Nancy Halvorson! I'm going to cross my fingers. :-o My favorite holiday memory happened when my DH was deployed and I was home with 2 kiddo's. I wanted to get a photo of our son (4) and DD (5 months) in front of this 3 foot tree I had purchased. Of course, DS was taller than the tree, so he sat down and was going to hold DD~ she twisted on him and grabbed the tree branch and pulled the whole thing down and DS said 'oh no! she is just like the Grinch!' in such dismay I had to laugh and explain to him she was just being a baby. :-) Thanks for the fun!
ReplyDeleteI can remember as a little girl each Christmas Eve. My sister was born on Christmas Eve and we would celebrate her birthday till 8 at night and turn it over to Christmas. I remember waking up early early on Christmas and sneaking out to the living room to take my stocking down from the mantel...the only problem was ...it had bells..so I wasnt as quiet as I thought. By the age of 8 or so I learned and cut the bells off !
ReplyDeleteWe wrapped a package of dog treats and put them behind the tree. When we got home from the store, the tree was in the middle if the floor, standing up and not a single ornament broken of off the tree. Arfy had enjoyed his present!

My granddaughter was seven months old and we were visiting my brother. We had gone to visit my husband's sister in eastern NC and the weatherman was calling for snow. We headed to my brother's house 90 miles to the west, but got caught in the snow storm anyway. When we finally reached my brother's house, the snow was about a foot deep. My granddaughter and I went out and made snow angels.
ReplyDelete=) My favorite christmas was right after I met my dear husband. He got me a little Boyd bear wearing orange overalls. I still have them both =)
ReplyDeleteMy most memorable Christmas was when I was a teenager, growing up in India we spent Christmas day on the train!
ReplyDeleteWhen I was a child growing up on a farm, Christmas involved a house full of family - maybe 30 of us! Now we all have houses and children of our own no one has a house big enough for everyone! So no specific memory to share just a feeling of happiness that we could all celebrate together!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite memory came after the fact. When we were stationed in Pananma, I made lots of Barbie clothes for my daughters for Christmas. They now tell me that was one of the most special presents they ever got. I have tried making some for my granddaughter and the eyes are not what they use to me. But it warms my heart that my daughters loved it.
ReplyDeleteOne of my favorite memories was my mom's last Christmas, seeing her wrapped in the quilt that I made for her.
ReplyDeleteWhen I was eight years old, my mother was pregnant and due at the end of December. When my five year old brother and I woke on Christmas morning, we went to the Christmas tree, and there in a box was a life sized baby doll for me. My brother John thought the doll was a real baby that Santa had delivered to our family for Christmas. My mother ended up delivering my brother Craig on December 29. Getting a baby brother (even a little bit after Christmas) was the best present ever.
ReplyDeleteWhen I was growing up we always got an elf in our stockings and a puzzle to work on when everyone went house to house to visit. My sister and I have continued the elves (she usually gets angels since the elves are hard to find), and we always have a puzzle to work on!
ReplyDeleteFor some reason, I always remember a Christmas Eve, going for a walk on the quiet streets of our small town. Giant snowflakes falling and Christmas music playing on someones outdoor speakers. A perfect Christmas Eve!
