We have had laminate and cork floors in kitchens and really like the comf0rt of the cork floor. I think you can find lots of information on laying either type on floor on DIY and HGTV websites. I look forward to seeing the progress in this room and know it will be spectacular after seeing other renovations that you two have done!Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08448541328172846844noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4764660220699798009.post-43212624724657300582013-04-03T01:48:53.327-04:002013-04-03T01:48:53.327-04:00After you and your hubby are finished with your se...After you and your hubby are finished with your sewing room, which is going to be awesome btw. I've never used enamel, so no wise words here.

JoAnne's confession made me laugh. It'...Congratulations on your sewing room plans! It's fun to get it all going, isn't it? One thing I really love in my sewing room is lots of lights. I have a couple track lights and also a light with six bulbs in the center of the room. It's great in the winter.

When I was planning my sewing room, I thought I wanted a kitchen island for a cutting table, until I started looking and pricing them. At one store, the salesperson mentioned that the island I was looking at was just two upper cabinets set back to back, and with a 4" kickplate under them and formica top. So I bought some upper cabinets, my husband made a "box" to set them on and hooked them together back to back, and I ordered a formica top that looks like granite in the size I wanted. I love my cutting table, and it's the exact right height and very sturdy. The cabinets I got have doors on one side, and shelves on the other side. Just another idea for you! The one you show looks pretty neat, too. It's nice to be able to give your requests to your husband and get it made!

I have a laminate floor in my kitchen, and love it. We've had it at least 10 years, with kids and dogs on it, and it is holding up fine. I don't have any suggestions on putting it down, as we had ours done by a flooring company. It didn't look all that hard, though. Good luck with your planning!
